My maternal grandmother was,
Minnie Sarah Smith. Minnie was Evelyn's mother.  We know very little about our Smith Family and are look- ing for any information.  Below is what we know.  A little history and a few old photos.
The Family of
William George Smith

William was born January 28, 1847 in England.  He married Elizabeth (?) According to Family History; William came to Cranston, RI in the early 1870's.  He was a silversmith and designed  silverware patterns at the Gorham Silver Factory and the factory that preceded it.  His sister, Polly Smith, came from England shortly after George.  She came to forget her true love who had evidently left her shortly before they were to be married.
William had at least 6 children whose names we found on 12/30/2002 in the 1880 U.S. Census.  Minnie Sarah our grandmother b.1883 was the youngest. She had a older brother, William , she also a sister who married a Lawence Gross. Her other brothers were named; Fred R., Walter T. and Frank A. Smith.   Sarah  married George Meredith Warfield in 1905.  Their only daughter, Evelyn Elizabeth Warfield was b. in 1906.
Minnie Sara died of kidney failure in 1913, when Evelyn was 7 years old.

Evelyn's great Aunt Polly Smith took loving care of her until her father could re-establish himself in West Virginia.  He returned for his daughter a year later.  Aunt Polly remained an important person in her life until Polly died in the 1940s at the age of 97.  Except for a few photos posted on ths page, we have little additional Smith Family information

Wedding Announcement.  No Date
Auburn  A Wedding

George Meredith Warfield and Minnie Sarah Smith were united in marriage, Wednesday evening, at the home of the brides mother, Claredon St.  Auburn.  There were about 60 friends and relatives of the couple present.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Arthur Collins of the Church of the Messiah.  The bridesmaids were Miss Polly Smith and Mrs. Gladys Cummings.  The bride wore a silk  gown and carried a bouquet of Bride roses.  An informal reception took place later at which Miss Register rendered several piano solos and Clarence S. Chace and Charles Quinn entertained with vocal selections.  After a brief wedding tour the couple will return to Auburn as Mr. Warfield is employed as an overseer in the shirt manufactory at the state prison.
